Reflective Assignment 2

Finally, we were asked to write a reflective assignment based on everything we've learned and our journey from the time we entered Taylor's College Sri Hartamas.

Below is my second reflective assignment.

Previously, both of my brothers attended Taylor’s College Sri Hartamas to take A Levels. Due to their good recommendation and the close proximity of the college to my house, I agreed to choose Taylor’s College to further my studies. After handing in my results for the IGCSE tests that I took in May/June 2014, I was accepted into the college.

During the first week, I managed to meet other students through the integration process, which helped students to mingle and also made us question our life choices and decide on our possible careers. I was introduced to the concept of having a growth mindset, which I thought would help me in the future. I also managed to meet others who wanted to become veterinarians and learned of their experience whilst working or volunteering at the zoo or clinic. I learn my strengths and weaknesses, be it open or hidden, and I was taught on how to improve them.

Initially, I had chosen to take up Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Literature, but disappointingly, as the college did not offer these options, I decided upon replacing Literature with Economics. I wanted to sit for these subjects as I felt that it would assist my dream of becoming a veterinarian.

When I received my IGCSE results from the tests I had taken in October/November 2014, I realised the importance of working hard in order to achieve my goal. This led to me devising a plan which consisted of revising, writing notes, reading the textbooks and doing past papers.

I would like to obtain straight A’s for the Semester 1 exam and for the AS trials as these results will be used when I apply to universities in August this year. The requirements for the universities which I would like to enter are AAA or A*AA. Knowing that there would be heavy competition, I took it upon myself to form a club for animals – Animal Welfare Society – as it would look good on my application. I am also volunteering at various animal shelters such as Furry Friends and Farm in the City and plan to help Furry Friends to raise funds.

During the MPU studies, I was taught the importance of setting SMART plans and SWOT goals. Hence, I intend to follow through with my study schedule and will do further research on the universities which I would like to enter.
