We were provided with questions to further help us understand this concept. Below are my answers.
1. Determine your unique personality based on
the model attached.
‘D’ behaviour.
2. Consider how opposite personalities often
are attracted to each other in order to 'complete' themselves.
Those with opposite personalities make up for
the characteristics that the other person lack. For example, those with ‘S’
behaviours will be impressed by people with ‘D’ behaviours as ‘S’’s are usually
submissive whilst ‘D’’s are dominant.
3. Think about the obvious differences between
you and your other team members.
Those with ‘C’ behaviours are more
compliant and calculating and wait for exact instructions, while those with ‘D’
behaviours tend to take charge and are dominating, disregarding the directives.
Others with ‘S’ behaviours prefer to listen to other people and are
soft-spoken, whereas those with ‘I’ behaviours mingle and influence others.
4. Ask your closest friends about how opposite
personalities in their lives have helped and benefited them.
Those with opposite personalities can
correct each other’s weaknesses and influence the other to take on some of
their better characteristics. For example, when those with ‘D’ behaviours are
being too pushy, their friends can point it out and advise them on how to
consider everyone else’s opinion.
5. Begin thinking about the so called "weakness"
of others as "uniqueness's"
Those with ‘D/C’ behaviours are both
task-oriented and focus on their jobs at hand while those with ‘I/S’ behaviours
are people-oriented and build connections with others. People with ‘D/I’ behaviours
are more active and outgoing, hence preferring to voice out their thoughts, whereas
those with ‘C/S’ behaviours tend to be more reserved and passive, and pay
attention to details and are more stable.
