Reflective Assignment 1
People who have a fixed mindset believe that
their abilities and capabilities are fixed and cannot be changed whereas those who
have a growth mindset believe that various abilities can be developed through
hard work and perseverance.
By having a growth mindset, those who used to think that they cannot
do something well can dedicate themselves to practicing until they are good at
doing it.
After much contemplation, using the Johari window and other methods, my desire of becoming a veterinarian has been further reinforced. I have recognised my key roles in life - as a daughter, a sister and a studnet - while my main goals are to make my parents proud, to be a loving sister and to achieve straight A's. I understand that I need to find my most effective method of studying and understand other traits that need to be improved and how to improve them, which can be done by asking for guidance from those closest to me. My strength - mainly being that I dislike obtaining low marks which helps to motivate me to study, my values - my love and passion for animals, and my priorities - my studies, family and the general welfare of animals, all align to the work environment and nature of the job of a veterinarian.
Currently, I enjoy working with animals and find it easier to understand them. I also feel that I am self-motivated, responsible and flexible, due to the fact that I do not mind working outdoors or indoors (for example, working in a farm or working in a clinic). While my main ambition is to become a veterinarian, if all else fails, I will still consider becoming a veterinary technician or a wildlife rehabilitator.
